A steel structure civil aviation hub hangar refers to a large-scale hangar built in a major international aviation hub, used for parking, maintaining or servicing wide-body passenger aircraft (such as Airbus A380, Boeing 747, etc.) and multiple aircraft. Its main load-bearing structure is constructed with steel.

Structural Characteristics

The size of large passenger aircraft is already very large, so a larger interior space is required. Truss structures and truss frame structures can achieve spans of hundreds of meters or even over 300 meters without columns, allowing multiple commercial aircraft to be parked simultaneously. Additionally, the roof of the hangar not only needs to bear its own weight and wind loads, but usually also requires the suspension of numerous maintenance bridge cranes, lighting equipment, and maintenance passages. The load-bearing capacity of the steel structure can well meet these complex loads.

Specific purposes

Multi-position parking: The interior can be divided into different positions according to functions, for example:

Body maintenance area: For exterior inspection and structural repair of aircraft.

Painting hangar: Some hub hangars have the function of complete aircraft painting, and have extremely high requirements for environmental sealing and ventilation.

Special support: Usually equipped with pits (providing power, air source, air conditioning), fuel supply system, and dedicated dock frame systems for different aircraft models.
